Caring for Your Temporary Crown
Chewing and Eating
If we used an anesthetic to place a temporary crown, avoid chewing until the numbness has completely worn off to avoid accidentally biting your lip, cheek or tongue.
To keep your temporary crown in place, avoid eating hard or sticky foods, chewy bread, and especially avoid chewing gum and taffy. If possible, chew only on the opposite side of your mouth from where the temporary crown was placed.

When to Call
It is not a dental emergency if your temporary crown comes off; however, it will need to be placed back on your tooth. It is very important for the proper fit of your final crown that your temporary stays in place. If your temporary crown falls out, save it and call us at your next availability so we may reserve time on our schedule to re-cement it.
Call Coastal Dental Arts at 619-858-8080 if your bite feels uneven, you have persistent sensitivity or discomfort beyond slight temperature sensitivity, or if you have any questions or concerns. Our team will help you make an appointment with our dentists to resolve the problem.
